Beschreibung
"Global Movie Magazine Networks powerfully demonstrates the national, transnational, and networked nature of film culture and the role print publications have played in the development of a global film culture. Featuring leading film historians, this thorough and expertly researched volume is a must-read for film scholars and a must-assign for film history courses."--Allyson Nadia Field, University of Chicago "This expansive collection opens innovative vistas for researching film cultures around the world. The contributors' richly detailed investigations of rare archival cinema trade journals, fan magazines, pressbooks, and reviews spark exciting new questions for international historical exploration."--Kathryn Fuller-Seeley, University of Texas at Austin "Kudos to Hoyt and Conway for gathering this amazing collection of essays on the little-studied phenomenon of movie magazines throughout the twentieth century, not only those in North America and Western Europe but also many perhaps less familiar in Asia, Africa, and South America. Along with the wide-ranging introduction and informative essays, the appendix of nearly a hundred magazines digitized and available on the Media History Digital Library website should prove invaluable for further research and for teaching cinema history."--Richard Abel, University of Michigan
