Beschreibung

Take control of your time. Live your life to its full.

On the Shortness of Life is one of the most enduring works of ancient philosophy. With intriguing examples and insights from his own experience at the center of Roman power, Seneca shows how it is not life's brevity that is the issue, rather our tendency to squander time in pursuit of things that bring no lasting peace or happiness. This volume also includes the essays 'On the Happy Life' and 'On Peace of Mind'.

Seneca's very full and eventful life straddled the reign of five emperors: Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. An introduction from Tom Butler-Bowdon reveals the historical context for Seneca's writings, and highlights the timeless Stoic themes that he expounded and wished to live by.
